5th December 2009 - Trees, Tits and Wings

This morning we were organising a mass tree planting event at Southwater CP for the BBC Tree O'Clock World Record Attempt - which happened to be a big success with 1217 trees planted by 74 volunteers in just under 40 minutes!

After this I got home and thought that I would have a relaxing hour ringing at the end of the day but this proved rather hectic as this involved catching 38 new birds of which most were tits.

Wes did another roost attempt at the reserve in Capel last night with the only highlights being 3 Redwing.

Birds ringed:
Blue Tit - 30
Goldfinch - 1
Dunnock - 1
Great Tit - 3
Coal Tit - 1
Greenfinch - 2

  1. I dont know you spend all that time chopping trees down at Warnham then plant a new lot at Southwater.
