Today I went ringing at Leechpool and Owlbeech Woods and just set up two nets aiming to catch some Redpolls and Goldcrests.
Among the nine species caught, Redpolls certainly were a plenty with at least 50 around of which many were caught as well as a family of Long-tailed Tits.
The surprise highlights were the two Firecrests that came in with the Goldcrests. The first was a 1st year male (above and right) being almost the first bird of the morning and the next was a 1st year female (below).
Birds ringed:
Coal Tit - 2
Blue Tit - 6
Redpoll - 20
Robin - 1
Great Tit - 1
Firecrest - 2
Goldcrest - 3
Long-tailed Tit - 7
Wren - 1
