Another morning at home produced just eight new birds, highlighted by another male House Sparrow (only the third caught here) and a beautiful male Sparrowhawk (below). Amazingly this is only the third to be caught at the Horsham sites, especially considering that we operate three feeding stations!



Note the unmoulted inner secondaries and buff-tipped coverts, just visible in the picture above but highlighted below, that distinguish it as a second year bird.

Also, the first birds caught this year that were exhibiting brood patches being a Great Tit and a Greenfinch.
